You’ll find that Gabriola Island has a relaxed, chic atmosphere, with quiet roads, bustling markets, artist studios, farm stands, and a collection of home based businesses.

This very unique island has all the charm of a small community, while boasting the facilities of a city. These include an Elementary School, medical center, dentist, optometrist, massage therapist, veterinary clinic, dog groomer, gas station, library, museum, post office, fire hall, gym, health food store, sporting store, marinas, liquor stores, clothing stores, grocery store, drug store, and assorted pubs and restaurants.

The artist-rich culture creates an amazing community on the island, and there are many popular community events, highlighted every year with the Gabriola Thanksgiving Studio Tour. The community holds together, and is very supportive. Whether you’re planning an event, getting through a crisis, raising children or growing old, we care for each other here.

Is there enough to do? We’ve never heard that there isn’t! The only worry may be that you’ll find too much to do, as there are so many great things to be a part of, and so many interesting people to meet.

There are numerous clubs and organizations that you may choose to belong to, with interests ranging from health & wellness, gardening, and visual & performing arts, to service clubs, book clubs, yacht clubs, and even a Dragon Boat team. And you can’t forget the great outdoors! The island’s development was well planned, with an abundance of beach access points around Gabriola, giving residents and visitors alike a choice of where to visit and explore. You can enjoy the expansive north facing views of the Salish Seas, or the protected south facing views over the outer islands. Gabriola offers a richly varied shoreline, from pebble lined bays and sandy beaches to sandstone ledges and high-banked cliffs. It’s a great coastline to explore by boat or kayak!
